Working together from our studios in Glasgow, Scotland and Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, Working reflects our individual approaches to design and production and allows us to interrogate each other’s understanding of fabrics, art and design history, uniform constructions and an expanded notion of workwear. The project name is made up of the initials WK and RN and garments are produced in England and Japan.
Mixed italian cotton dogtooth fabrics, with a lighter weight body and slightly heavier front bib and collar. A mixture of design influences including early 19th century bib-front work shirts, the Rohan moving on smock, and a 70s blouse found at Lulu’s vintage store in Phoenixville PA. Split trapezoidal shoulder yokes. Deadstock front zip, buttons are made from cellulose acetate derived from recycled cigarette butts.
